Passing Down the Gift of Literacy
Literacy is more than a school subject. It is one of the primary ways knowledge, wisdom, and culture are passed from one generation to the next. Every reader inherits the thoughts of those who came before them, and every teacher plays a role in helping students enter that inheritance.
My name is Josue Sosa, an educator and minister from Massachusetts with ten years of experience in urban education. With a BA in Education from the University of Puerto Rico, and in the process of completing a MA in Reading Education K-12 from Grand Canyon University, my work focuses on literacy intervention, comprehension development, and helping struggling readers gain the confidence and skills necessary to engage with complex texts.
Cultivating Minds and Hearts
My experience in the classroom has shown me that literacy growth rarely happens through isolated lessons. It happens through intentional instruction, thoughtful collaboration with teachers, and consistent support for students and families. As I continue developing as a literacy specialist, my goal is to help build environments where reading is not only taught effectively but valued as a lifelong tool for learning and reflection.
